The question is, why did this happen? Let us note the case of one minister who was being mightily used of God, and whose ministry was reaching thousands. Unfortunately, after a time he began to compare himself with others—as some ministers are prone to do, but which the Scriptures admonishes us not to do (II Cor. 10:12). He saw others doing things that he felt were outdistancing him, and he became dissatisfied. He came to the conclusion that what he lacked was a project. God does call certain ones to carry out special work, but this man evidently without getting the mind of God launched into something beyond his depth.

Unless the man takes upon him the whole armor of God, he is in serious danger of becoming a victim of the enemy's attacks. We thank God that there are many godly men and women who believe and practice apostolic ministry and who maintain a high standard of Christian conduct. Nevertheless, the genuineness of this ministry does not stand nor fall upon the success or failure of any man but upon God's immutable Word. If the Scriptures teach anything at all, they affirm that the same command that Christ gave to the Early Church is in force today: "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world" (Matt.
